  I bought this for my son who loves kayaking as a Christmas gift. He was thrilled when he opened it, saying it was the same type he'd borrowed for his previous kayaking adventure. He was over the moon. He also appreciated the case it came with, making it easy to pack.

  Sure, there are cheaper telescopic rods on the market, but I was banking on the idea that shelling out a bit more would land me a higher quality product... and that's exactly what happened. It exceeded my expectations.

  The quality and portability are top-notch. I always stash this rig behind my truck seat. It's been a lifesaver when a fishing opportunity pops up, and it's always performed brilliantly. I can't recommend this compact combo rig enough.

  It's perfect to keep in the car for those spontaneous fishing urges. The lures it comes with aren't the best, though. I was hoping to have caught something by now, but that's on me, not the rod. If anyone ever asked, I'd definitely recommend this.

  I received the 8ft rod as a gift - I was looking for something I could easily take with me on bike rides to go fishing. I've reeled in a decent number of panfish and bass, but nothing huge yet. I recently swapped out the reel for a Penn Wrath 3000 so I can use it in saltwater, and so far, it's been a smooth ride. I'm anticipating the rod tip might break at some point, and when that happens, I'll be ordering a smaller one.

  I've put this rod to the test over a dozen times. I've reeled in a good number of medium-sized fish with it, ranging from 6" to 18". It's held up well so far, but remember, this isn't your typical 2-piece rod that's built like a tank. It's got more parts and needs a gentler touch. I've been fishing for years, and I snagged this rod for its portability.

  This rod was a total game-changer. I put it to use nearly every day for three years and it didn't give me a single problem. I always kept it collapsed when not in use and extending it was never an issue. It only broke when a wakeboard accidentally landed on it while I was distracted. I'm definitely sticking with this fishing pole for future purchases.

  I'm totally digging this compact, lightweight rod and reel. It slips right into my backpack with its carry case. It even comes with two spools that I've rigged up with different test lines. Swapping them out is a breeze, depending on what I need. Seriously, it's a top-notch product.

  Picked up this kit and I gotta say, the rod and reel really impressed me. The tackle kit's not half bad, but the case is pretty much only good for shipping. I'm pretty sure you can snag the rod/reel combo for around 25 bucks and put the extra 35 towards a bunch more tackle and a legit tackle box.

  This fishing pole is fantastic, exactly what I was hunting for. I needed something that would collapse small enough to fit in a backpack and this fits the bill perfectly. It feels good in the hand and the accompanying reel is super smooth. For the price, it's unbeatable. Everyone who sees it stops me to ask what it is and where I got it. It's lightweight and handles like a dream.

  This compact rod and reel combo isn't too shabby. It has a pleasant feel, the reel spins smoothly, and the drag pulls evenly. It's also quite a looker. I haven't landed any fish with it yet, but I'm confident it could handle a fish up to about 5 pounds, given the right technique.

  A relative gifted me this fishing rod set. I got the 9ft version and I must say, the rod is pretty solid and the reel works well. Just a heads up, make sure to keep the thumbscrew on the handle tight every time you use it. Since you have to disassemble it to put it in and out of the case, we ended up losing one and had to get it replaced.

  I bought this because I wanted a compact fishing pole for travel, but ended up with something that's not even usable. The tension on the reel is totally messed up. Either there's so much slack in the line that it unravels and tangles on its own, or it's so tight that the line snaps while casting. I couldn't get a single successful cast with this rod and had to keep replacing the fishing line.
